Exciting things are happening for EasyBuild Construction Software
A Joint Venture between SPL Powerlines and Carillion entered at the end of 2017 was supposed to be a crucial part of Network Rail’s plans for the Midland Mainline and Scottish Rail Network. This was until Carillion went bust and left SPL Powerlines managing director, Martin Hawley, with a series of key business decisions to be made in a short period of time. This was a time of major challenge for them and could have resulted in hundreds of job losses.
SPL Powerlines had worked hard over the last four years towards the success of the CPL Joint Venture. After the news of the UK’s biggest corporate collapse, SPL Powerlines still looked into their bright future with hope – he believed the news, albeit it devastating, was a good opportunity.
This was also an opportunity for EasyBuild Construction Software to prove how it could react in a such a short timescale and provide a software solution to a contractor needing a fully integrated system – on any scale.
There were already tight deadlines on migrating away for IT solution, which was provided to the contract by Carillion, of which putting a robust ERP solution was key. It was a challenge which both organisations were up for and pulled together for a successful changeover. Everyone had to work quickly and efficiently.
“The important thing was that we had to continue to deliver on site, with minimal disruption to the contract” said Mr Hawley, SPL Powerlines Managing Director
‘Network Rail has also been satisfied that SPL is capable of taking on the JV’
This is great news. EasyBuild are thrilled they could provide their contractors software and be apart of the success. SPL Powerlines and EasyBuild will continue to work together to implement solution improvements to SPL Powerlines UK, which will see Mobile Timesheet and other key operational cost management and controls.
“SPL Powerlines is one of many companies who have introduced EasyBuild to their business to control finance and project cost. Having full transparency and accuracy of all your labour, material, subcontractor and plant costs, makes a significant difference to profit in an industry where margins are tight” Carol Massay, CEO of EasyBuild
